A Killybegs fisherman has been despatched ahead for trial on the circuit courtroom on a cost referring to alleged under-recording of herring on board the vessel of which he’s the Grasp.

Gerard McHugh of Greenhills, Fintra, Killybegs was earlier than Donegal District Courtroom this week.

The courtroom heard that he had been served with the e-book of proof by association.

State solicitor Kieran Dillon stated the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) consented to the defendant being despatched ahead for trial to the subsequent sitting of Donegal Circuit Courtroom commencing in Letterkenny on March 12.

McHugh is charged that on October 13, 2021, being the grasp of the Irish sea fishing boat Antarctic (bearing port registration quantity D97), did fail to precisely report knowledge within the fishing logbook for the operations of the stated sea-fishing boat by under-recording his catch of herring, above 50 kg of dwell weight, caught and retained on board.
