A person who used a Revolut card which he discovered on the road to purchase a packet of cigarettes at a Letterkenny store will likely be sentenced subsequent week.

Robert Makula appeared earlier than Letterkenny District Court docket this week.

Makula was charged with stealing property, particularly €23, the property of Neil Byrne.

When placed on his election by Choose Éiteáin Cunningham, Makula opted for his case to be heard within the District Court docket and tendered a responsible plea.

Sergeant Maurice Doyle informed the court docket that Makula entered Callaghan’s XL, Foremost Road, Letterkenny, at 9.40am on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. The defendant used a Revolut card to puchase a packet of cigarettes.

The court docket heard that the cardboard belonged to a Mr Neil Byrne, who didn’t give his permission for Makula to make use of it.

Sergeant Doyle mentioned Makula had ‘discovered the cardboard and used it.’

Mr Patsy Gallagher, solicitor for Makula, mentioned his shopper is a 29-year-old father-of-one who’s in a long-term relationship.
