Jake McNulty was given a suspended four-month jail sentence following an incident that noticed him strike Garda Robert Kearney.
McNulty, a 22-year-old of Hollybush Park, Porthall, was additionally charged with a separate public order incident throughout which he turned threatening to employees at Letterkenny College Hospital.
